Style Update: Sweater / Skirt Maxi Mixing

It’s a cold one out here in the country today. In fact, it’s not just cold, it’s grey. I can’t imagine what life would have been like had the whole of lockdown been like this. We’re basically both sitting at the kitchen table today, catching up on work we’ve been avoiding when the sun is shining. It’s 6pm now, so we’ve cracked open the beers. But, this was the scene earlier. I was running outside to grab all the things I’d left out thinking today might be a day to spend in the garden. I’m not entirely sure what led me to believe that. But, the mistake was made (also if you want to hear what the story with the garden is, head over to this post on instagram).

It has been so cold, however, that I’ve resorted to wearing a light sweater and covering the legs with a maxi. Well, I say I was covering the legs until I remembered this skirt had slits in it.

The sweater was a beautiful gift from a brand called Winser London. I’ve enjoyed pieces from this brand for years. They are wardrobe staples and the quality is designer level, where the price tag is very reasonable indeed. This is a fisherman’s sweater. It’s a type of sweater I’ve always had to have in the closet. It’s one of those things that you always see on wardrobe icons. Whether they are being photographed on the back of a boat, or fireside with s’mores in hand, this sweater is made for a preppy life!

The skirt is funky, yet trust me when I say it’s timeless. It’s also only £34.99. I always get asked by you guys where to buy classic maxis. This one is a “thinking outside the box” classic, but a classic nonetheless. I threw on this outfit for warmth and ended up falling in love with it. Originally I had the skirt paired with a rock tee and it was just too cold, so on came the sweater. It’s wonderful when a wardrobe comes together to make you feel confident!
