If you follow me over on Instagram, you will have seen that I’m home! “Home” being the South Carolina Lowcountry. The tone, here on the blog, definitely changes when I get home. Life in general is always a little slower. I tell people, before they come to visit, that the toughest part of their day on the island will be getting their iced tea from the kitchen to porch swing without spilling any along the way. If that isn’t bliss, I don’t know what is. And I couldn’t feel any prouder or luckier to call it home.
As you will see from today’s Shop The Look, the weather has also been a tad warmer than it is currently in London. So I’m taking advantage and rolling out the red carpet for some of the spring summer dresses I’ve already purchased for the season ahead. This one is a favourite and will be worn again and again as spring starts to bloom. It was the perfect dress, however, for spending the day curled up in a chair reading on the porch. Boomer, the golden retriever, was at my feet, acting as a heated blanket for my toes. The sun was intermittently shimmering through the Spanish Moss, with a warmth that could easily be mistaken for a summer. And I was channeling my British side by caressing a hot cup of English tea rather than the chilly iced tea usually served in this part of the world. It was a day I needed, desperately. One where you forget the time, but instead measure your day by the tides coming in and out on the coastline. Life here truly is so darn sweet. It’s why most people never ask for sugar in their iced tea. Well, that’s my theory anyway.
