So there’s something really important you need to know about me: I’m a cowgirl. No really. In my heart of hearts, I was born in the wrong place. I was meant to be born into a family of ranchers out west where every morning we saddle up and head out onto the plains, wrangling cattle as we go. The world works in funny ways. I wasn’t born into that at all, as a matter of fact, and my living in London is hardly a CV builder for a future in cattle ranching. So instead, I go crazy for any sort of reference to the American west in fashion. It’s part of the reason I’m obsessed with Ralph Lauren, and always will be – because of his very obsession for this way of life and this part of the world.
I suppose I needed to explain this with this particular outfit and why, when I saw this skirt, I practically leapt onto it like it might disappear if I didn’t have it in hand right there and then. It spoke to me, plain and simple. And there was no way I would style it in anything less than a complete homage to the great American West. There you have it. I think it explains it all. This skirt is a classic, plain and simple. And everything else, well, you’ve seen me wear a thousand times over already. So you know these are keepers! Leather, denim and cow print…. a style tale as old as time.
