When I was sixteen I had my heart well and truly broken for the first time. The circumstances aren’t important. Young love is powerful, but often times ridiculous. Let’s just leave it there. But, as I collapsed on my bedroom floor crying, believing my life was over, my dog, Bizmarck, came straight to my side and buried his face in my lap. The tears streamed down my face down onto my pup’s head and he looked up at me and licked the salty water from my cheeks. In return, I wrapped my arms around him, around his golden fur, and thanked him for being someone who would never ever break my heart. That’s the thing about a dog. They can only love you. That’s their only setting. You love and they love in return, unconditionally.
So, yes, I am a complete sucker when it comes to anything showcasing my love for the four legged furry friends of the world. I can’t resist. Just ask the girls I was in Nantucket with last week. Every single dog that crossed our path, I had to kneel down and greet with a ruffle of the fur and a “hello, friend.” And Nantucket is a dog community, so I was in heaven. I had packed a shirt to wear while in the USA and completely left it behind, along with about five other pieces, simply because I was so exhausted I neglected to put the smaller bag into the suitcase. So pardon the fact that I’m backtracking here a bit to the end of summer, instead of showcasing how to wear this in autumn. But, I wanted to share with you a shirt I was sent by White Stuff, a collaboration with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
This green and white Buster Dog Print Shirt sees a percentage of sales go straight to the charity that actively works towards finding dogs and cats their forever homes. I wear it with pride in not only showcasing my appreciation for the collaboration, but also my love for my pups.
