FFG Eats: Kettner’s Townhouse Afternoon Tea (and a sneaky peek at the suites)

There’s a new jewel on the London hotel scene and it will absolutely charm the pants off of you. This is Kettner’s Townhouse in Soho, located just next door to the original Soho House and, incidentally, now owned by the same people. The Soho institution has had a revamp with the new owners and the interiors are, quite simply put, a breath of fresh air.

I was invited into Kettner’s Townhouse for afternoon tea. The main restaurant area is beautifully decorated and the lighting is perfect for first dates – very flattering and oh so intimate. Just putting that out there for anyone on the dating scene that’s looking for some ideas. Afternoon tea is still relatively quiet as well, since this has literally just opened. So, if you’re looking for a quiet and lazy afternoon, block this time out in your calendar now before the masses start queuing at the door. It must also be said that the staff are so bubbly, smily and absolutely lovely. Hate to say it, but that’s a real rarity in London these days, so Kettner’s gets high marks for that. In fact, it’s because of the lovely staff that I was also able to get a cheeky first look at the suites after we’d finished stuffing our faces with sweet treats.

The rooms at Kettner’s are oh so Soho House. If anyone has ever stayed at one of the houses, you’ll know there is a very specific “vibe” to the decor. The great thing about Kettner’s is that this is the clubhouse vibe without the need for membership. You can stay, dine and drink without a membership card in sight. So, if you’re in London, stop in for brekkie, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or a little staycation with charm. It’s worth a visit. And if you need more convincing, here’s a look at the afternoon tea and the main suite at Kettner’s Townhouse.
