Five Friday Favorites: Sleep, sound, shampoo, sparkles and superficial sun

Happy Friday, one and all! Bringing back an oldie but a goodie here with Five Friday Favorites. I know, it’s been a while and sadly the favorites have, as of late, taken a back seat to other features. But never fear, they have returned and I’m kicking off with five things that are a daily part of my life, essentials if you will. Just five things that I feel the need to share the love with and they go a little something like this…

1. Eve Pillow

A few months ago, the lovely people at Eve Mattress (the mattress I swear by) sent me a pillow – one of the latest items they have added to their family of sleep aids. I have waited a while to mention it as I wanted to make sure it was “mentionable,” if you know what I mean. And, just like the mattress, I can tell you I’m in love. At £59, the pillow is easily the least expensive and most effective memory foam pillow I’ve ever had the pleasure of sleeping with. And, let’s be honest here. When it comes to pillows, there’s nothing else in this world that gets as much one on one time with you as this big softy. So why are you sleeping on anything less than perfection? And forget about needing a pillowcase (unless you swear by the silk cases). This pillow comes complete with a t-shirt like washable cover. Done and dusted. Eve even very nicely printed a giant “E” on my pillow just to make sure Mr. FFG knows that this particular pillow is mine, all mine!

2. Technology shopping at Heathrow Airport

Ok, so this is a whole new concept for me and one I had to share. I went into Dixons, in Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, and was introduced to the one and only way I’ll be buying technology from here on out. I went in to pick up some headphones for my long haul flight home, got to talking with the manager and discovered more than I ever knew about the possibilities of shopping with the store en route. Basically you can pick up pretty much anything on the go, but you can also preorder items to be picked up on departing or arriving in the UK. Interestingly enough, they also offer a price match guarantee with select stores in the UK. Yes, please. They also have Apple products that are just as cheap as they are in the USA. Not sure that’s totally public knowledge, but guess the cat’s out of the bag. Guess when the laptop needs replacing I’ll be doing it alongside a trip to some Euro destination. Now, about the headphones. I dashed out with Bose Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones and I’ve pretty much lived in them since I bought them. From sleeping next to a snorer to endless flights that require tuning out ridiculous surrounding conversations, these Bose have already seen 40 hours of usage in the last couple of weeks. If you are looking for headphones that truly block out everything around them, these are the answer. No doubt about it.

3. Summer Sun with Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer

Every single summer, without fail, I live with this by my side. It’s the best bronzer on the market, in my opinion, and comes in a giant compact that makes it easy to use absolutely everywhere – face, neck, shoulders, décolletage and more. The best part? It doesn’t have a lick of glitter or unnatural particles that make you look more like a disco ball than a sunkisssed goddess. This is the real deal – a bronzer that makes you look like you’ve had sun. Hallelujah. This is my summer must… for everyone!

4. Lee Renee Jewellery

If you guys follow me on instagram you’ll know I’m obsessed once again with the creations of Lee Renee. In fact, I never fell out of love with this designer… it’s just been a little while since I reminded you of her existence. Lee’s pieces are unique, delicate and 100% luxury… only the prices are much more in line with what we all can afford and the offering is perfect for gifting yourself and others. If the day should ever come that I do get married, all of my bridesmaids can expect gifts from this genius creature. It’s money well spent and a not so secret addiction of mine that has only steadily increased over the years.

5. Living Proof Full Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – you should be spending your beauty allowance on hair. It’s my biggest expenditure every month, from maintenance in colour to conditioning treatments. I’m also always experimenting with new shampoos, and coming back to some golden oldies. So, in mentioning the golden oldies, I’m going to throw back here to a combo that deserves another mention or two. I’ve written about Living Proof before, but I’ll just say that their Full Shampoo and Conditioner are still the best volumising combo that I’ve used to date. If it’s good enough for Jennifer Anniston….
