Work it Out: The new M&S Sportswear is my new live-in wardrobe

Marks & Spencer has been in my life for 13 years now. The first day I moved to the UK I found myself walking the sandwich aisles of the local M&S shop. Weeks later I was referred back to Marks & Spencer for easy purchases for everyday essentials. Fast forward a decade and I now attend their presentations at fashion week where they showcase collections that rival those found on the catwalk. It’s been an incredible timeline for the folks over at M&S and they continue to deliver surprises year after year. This season, as many of you will already know, the Marks & Spencer brand has taken a step up in the sportswear department. In fact, they join dozens of other retailers who have discovered women are spending more time in workout gear than in jeans these days. Truly, the yoga pant has replaced the classic jean. Watch any high street for ten minutes and you’ll see what I mean.

For a while Lululemon held a majority share in the chic workout department. I think they’ll always get the credit for making workout gear an everyday run-around-town look. However, high street brands are giving Lulu a run for their money by bringing us great gear that doesn’t require selling a kidney to purchase. Marks & Spencer’s latest launch is a perfect example. They’ve put the time and money into figuring out what works for seams, ventilation, patterns and pairing. In short, their offering this season is genius. There are even socks that have a magical ability to keep nasty odours at bay. You’ll find leggings that breathe… yes, breathe, and sports bras that actually hold stuff together as you run. Thank heavens!

So, rather than running away with all your hard earned money to buy one pair of leggings, take a step into M&S this week and check out what’s on offer. I have a feeling you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what you find hanging on the rack.

Now, whether or not you’ll wear the items to actually work out in is up to you. I haven’t hit a gym all week but I’ve been wearing these goodies religiously as I run about doing what needs to be done.

Fashion Foie Gras was a guest of M&S for the launch of M&S Sportswear this season.
