My opinion of a restaurant isn’t best formed at dinner. In fact, it isn’t even made at lunch. A new restaurant tells all by the state of their breakfast, if they offer it. In fact, if I had my choice I’d be a permanent breakfast reviewer. There’s nothing I love more than pancakes, waffles, french toast or eggs royale. It’s my favourite meal of the day and I jump at the chance to sample a breakfast meal whenever it’s offered, which of course leads me to the topic at hand. Last week I attended the re-launch of The Grill at The Dorchester. It was a culinary delight, so much so that I returned for breakfast the next morning (and booked in with two extra sessions of training this week because of the overindulgence).
We were served a sampling of the menu, with perfectly portioned plates that featured everything from french toast covered with chocolate and maple syrup to the world’s most perfect eggs royale, in miniature. In short, if every morning could start like this I think I’d live a very happy life indeed, albeit a super sized one. This is decadence in unparalleled measures. And the sweetness of the experience certainly does not start and stop with the food itself. Service at The Grill at The Dorchester is second to none. Wait staff are handsomely outfitted and seem to appear out of nowhere as if they knew you were badly needing that second skimmed latte before you yourself even knew.
