The perfect Afternoon tea for pre-wedding celebration

Now I know the Wedding afternoon tea at the Park Lane Hotel in London is supposed to be in celebration of the Wedding dresses exhibition currently on at the V&A, but I can’t help but think it’s appropriately timed for something else. Everything about this afternoon tea makes me think it’s actually the perfect tea for the start of wedding season. As we drank glasses of champagne and nibbled on chocolate covered strawberries, I couldn’t help but wish I was there with all my future bridesmaids enjoying an afternoon of absolutely luxury.

Rather than attending with bridesmaids, I actually attended the Park lane Wedding afternoon tea with future flower girls and a ring bearer. I was spending the afternoon with my nieces and nephew and one of their favourite things to do is “afternoon tea.” I thought I’d give them the ultimate task of judging a real life tea experience. They are somewhat pro at this area as although none of them are over the age of ten, they’ve had more afternoon teas around the world than I have. Yes, I’m talking real afternoon teas, not the ones with Ken and Barbie (although they are known to put those on as well).

So we sat for tea, and the kids sat for hot chocolate. The adults began with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, but truth be known, those little rascals stole most of those gorgeous chocolate covered strawberries.

The tea continued with sophisticated savoury bites followed by the most incredible display of sweet treats. We were given an array of mini wedding cakes, a groomsman’s cake, a gold ring of epic sweetness and a selection of heart shaped scones.

Out plates were cleared and it was time to hear the jury’s verdict. First, it was asked if Auntie Em’s wedding would be as luxurious for all. I had to fib that and promise it would exceed all expectations (Park Lane Hotel, I’m going to need some help), and moved them onto the topic of how all things measured up. It was two thumbs up all around – you have to remember we’re all American.

Truly an afternoon tea to take in now while it’s around. And if you’re getting married or want to treat someone who is to something special, get this booked in ASAP. It’s a true treat and it finishes on the 30th of June!
