Jumby Bay with Heidi Klein Day Six: …and then we said goodbye

Sadly I am now back in London as I write up this final behind-the-scenes look at heidi klein Resort 2014. I’ve just come off an eight hour flight and feel more than a little groggy. But more than groggy, I feel sad to have left such an amazing location and the phenomenal people I worked with this week.

Our last day on the shoot was perhaps the most relaxed and definitely one of the most fun. We had all found our rhythm completely in working together and I’m pretty sure the rest of the guests at Jumby Bay were having a good laugh at how silly we were being on set.

We started the morning at the Pool Grille where we set up camp on a few pool loungers. Clothes hung from oversized umbrellas and in between shoots we’d find solace in their shade with a glass of fresh pineapple juice. Thank goodness for the marvellous Jumby Bay staff who kept on top of our hydration levels by always asking us how they could help and sometimes reading minds just knowing we needed a sparking water with lime. This is a large part of Jumby Bay’s unique appeal. The customer service is simply second to none.

The model was shot in the most stunning new pieces from heidi klein. If they were aren’t sample sized for the shoot, I might have tried to run off with nearly the whole collection for my summer wardrobe. I’d certainly be the best dressed on the beach from st Tropez to Miami.

While the outfits themselves were stunning, so too were the locations for shooting. The model was taken out on the sand bar in front of the pool grille for several shots where she seemed to float on water as she modelled gorgeous white bikinis, long maxi dresses and beautiful bandeaus.

Post pool shoot we ran over once again to the Hummingbird villa to shoot the model on a bike, on the beach and in the plunge pool. I’ve yet to see the finished shots from the bicycle ride but i have a feeling they may be my favourites. Upon returning to the villa, after shooting the model from a moving golf cart, we each had our turn at putting our legs into the freezing cold water in the plunge pool. Some of us dared to go in a little further. Pictures speak louder than words… It was sweet relief from a scorching hot day.

The shots flew by and before we all knew it it was time to break for lunch, our final meal together at Jumby Bay. We headed back to the pool grille and sat down to eat the most gorgeous fried calamari, lobster salad and, finally, delicious ice cream. On the final day calories don’t count, you see.

After five days together on small boats, deserted islands and plunge pools, our little team had somewhere along the line become a family, and that was incredibly clear as we all stood on the dock saying our goodbyes at dusk last night. The sky had clouded over and Jumby Bay, the island, even seemed sad to see us go.

The pictures will speak for themselves when they are released. But this was one of the most fantastic experiences i have had yet. Jonathan Glynn-Smith has captured something truly fantastic with the new heidi klein collection. I do hope you’ve enjoyed your sneak peek here as I’ve had a blast sharing everything. Fingers crossed they invite me back next season, haha!
