While in Italy with Il Salviatino, we were taken to have lunch at the beautiful Colle Bereto Estate in the Chianti region. I like to call this my “from the vine to the table experience.” We were first shown the vineyard and how the wine and olive oil from the grounds are made. From there we spent a long leisurely lunch sampling the delights of the land.
I found myself completely lost in the moment as I was sitting drinking Chianti Classico, surrounded by the hills and men that had produced such a delicious vino. It was one of the most perfect days of the season and as we sampled everything from wines to strawberries with custard, I couldn’t help but think I’d been transported to a parallel universe. Alas, my surroundings are real and open to all to experience. And I must say that if you do find yourself in the Chianti region of Italy, this is one Agricultural Estate not to be missed.
If ever there were a place to make you feel alive… it’s Italy. Thank you, Colle Bereto, for making me put down my Blackberry, open my eyes and enjoy my surroundings for the first time in I can’t remember how long.
