Outfit du Jour: Grab a colour off your dress with your nails

When it comes to colour on the nail call me crazy, but I like to have a little fun. I love those little dresses where the devil is found in the colour detail and I find the best way to really call attention to said detail is with your nails. On a dress that’s showing off maybe four or five powerful yet subtle colour strands, pick one and run with it.

Orange happens to be a personal favourite when it comes to picking up colour from a garment. I think it’s a striking colour that’s often used as a highlight on a dress but in a subtle way that can almost get lost in the grand scheme of things. So I throw on a bright orange polish, such as Maybelline’s Color Show Solar Flame orange, to really bring out the detail. This is colour that definitely shows you’ve paid attention to putting together an entire look and I find it is greatly underutilised. It looks fantastic on short nails and, call me crazy again, but I feel like it really gives a youthful glow to your hands. Yes, I can feel you rolling your eyes at me now. Honestly though, with an orange polish on the nail beds I do feel a bit “fashion empowered.”

So next time you’re looking at that beautiful dress on the hanger, think about how you can use a nail colour to work with the best bits!

Get fashion for your fingertips with NEW MAYBELLINE COLORSHOW nail lacquers. From nudes to acid brights, the colour is bold and crisp due to the formula’s transparent gel-base, giving a fierce fashion finish. Only £2.99 RRP in-store now.
