BCBG Max Azria Autumn Winter 2013 from New York Fashion Week

BCBG Max Azria gave us an interesting preview of the season ahead today at New York Fashion Week. The look was what we’re calling “LA-yered NYC-hic.” In short, BCBG’s layered looks have that relaxed Los Angeles vibe to them with the New York high-end sophistication, which has everything to do with the incredible furs sent down the runway.

First of all, it’s important to note here that the parka is officially in play for autumn winter 2013. If you have one from this past season, just put it in the back of the closet and keep it ready for another round of play come November. BCBG Max Azria’s parka is one that can only be defined as “super-luxe.” It’s fur lined, need I say more?

Then there’s the styling we saw during the show. It’s all about layering and the varying lengths with garments, to an extreme. When we say extreme here, we are basically warning you that the layers now drip down to your ankles. Yes, the dress over pants looks seems to be making a comeback, but only when paired with other items of different fabrics and length. Are you taking style notes here?

We saved the most notable mention for last… the skullcaps. Are we headed back into the grunge era? If someone could tell me, so I could have my flannel and Pearl Jam CDs at the ready, I’d appreciate it. On a serious note, this was an accessory that truly changed the whole feel of the show. Amazing how something as small and seemingly insignificant can alter the vibe of an entire catwalk.

What I’m buying: The Fur Lined Parka and black and white fur gilet.
