Fashion week spring summer 2013 trends: Pattern Pants

For those of you thinking you are in the clear for clean,
black cigarette pants only next season, think again. You may have recently
spotted that look on the catwalk at Dior and YSL, but pants this season are
about so much more than just those beautiful staples. In the spotlight are trousers that speak
loudly to the world of fashion. Pattern pants are, not surprisingly, continuing
as a massive trend for spring summer 2013. They’re every bit
as loud as they have been in the past and thankfully many of the themes we’ve
seen on catwalks of old are repeating themselves. Here’s hoping you didn’t donate your old trousers
thinking the trend had died out.

This season we see prints for every sort of pant silhouette.
Some favourites include J Crew’s skunk
print pant in a skinny capri and Isabel
’s paisley motif lace ups in a long and lean flare.I particularly love that Jenni Kayne brings us back to an Aztec print which has been huge
for more seasons than anyone can really keep track of anymore. Let’s also not forget Etro’s brilliant mixing
of two trends, stripes and print for a gorgeous wide leg trouser. Talk about
killing two birds with one stone.

Bottom line here is to hang onto anything with a print that
screams, just as long as it isn’t screaming “last season”.Try to stay away from the memorable prints
from seasons’ past and instead try to be more original with the statements you
are making. How to do this if you don’t have a fortune to spend on the new
catwalk looks? March your booty down to your local charity shop or vintage
store. These places are overflowing with prints that have been long forgotten
and are just begging for a wake up call.
