Falling in love with Oscar de la Renta Spring Summer 2013

The Oscar de la Renta Spring Summer 2013 collection is still causing all the hairs on my arms to stand on end. As each creation appeared at the end of the catwalk I found I was seduced by the overall look, however as the model grew closer I found my true love affair for the collection growing with each amazing detail I discovered. From latex tanks to heavily beaded gowns, this new collection featured so many different textures, colours and hemlines that I could barely keep track as each look passed. I wanted to have a moment to take in each new look fully but found I was flipping my head back and forth as if I was back at Wimbledon. Truly, Oscar de la Renta’s handiwork is best appreciated when you have ten to fifteen minutes to examine each and every one of his pieces. Yes, they are that intricate and that amazingly beautiful.

Favourite looks from the collection included just about everything in the “shocking pink” colour, including the Persian lamb skirt suit and the bead and tassel ornament gown with a turquoise back (actually, this is one of my favourite pieces from NYFW thus far). And honestly there wasn’t one piece that I would turn away from owning. The dream is of course to have a closet overflowing with Oscar de la Renta… that’s the dream, unfortunately not yet a reality.

For many who grew up wishing they could one day wear a gown like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, the dream has indeed changed to become one which involves an Oscar de la Renta creation in their lives… or at least that’s how my dream has altered in the past decade. And so, if I overwhelm you with pictures here it is because I myself was overwhelmed at the show.  I kept wondering how I could share this moment with you in a way that would truly express my excitement for the collection. Dear reader, I do so with images… lots of them, and of course a finale video for you to take in the movement of the garments. They sway and do cause the wearer to adopt a sort of swagger as you’ll see below…

And finally, here’s a look at the last run through…
