Youtube sensation Lauren Luke shows abused women how to cover up their bumps and bruises

Lauren Luke is taking an interesting stand against domestic violence. The self-taught makeup artist who has nearly 440,000 subscribers on Youtube, with over 129 million views under her belt, yesterday released a video that had many subscribers scratching their heads as it began. Lauren appears bruised and bloodied and apologizes for her absence on the scene as she tells us she’s been going through a rough time lately. She then talks about covering up bruises from being slammed into a coffee table or cuts from being hit with rings. Lauren then hears a noise and quickly shuts down her computer in a panicked state. Then the titles roll…. “65% of women who suffer domestic violence keep it hidden.”

While Lauren’s bumps and bruises were manufactured, she is no stranger to abusive relationships. She told Adweek, “I had a bad experience in the past with a previous boyfriend. He never
physically hurt me but I did sometimes fear what would happen next if I
said the wrong thing. He could be overprotective and embarrass me in
front of my work colleagues or friends because of his aggressive
behavior. Sometimes it was like living with a volcano which could erupt
at any second—I felt I was walking on egg shells just to keep him from
exploding and smashing something across the room.”
