Wonderbra’s new ad idea is sure to set off feminists around the globe

So Wonderbra have experienced a bit of a light bulb moment in Spain. Their Spanish advertising agency have decided to re-package the famous over the shoulder boulder holder as a self-help book. What this means essentially is that with the swift snap of a bra strap, you too can go from hero to zero in a man’s world of business. Why zero in on the business world? Well, if you look closely you’ll see that the strapline on the book’s box is “A couple of tips for a business woman in a man’s world.” The text continues on the back with “With the help of the contents of this book, speaking in public will never be the same. Forget about perspiration, stand up confidently in front of all of them…and smile. The meeting room is your kingdom. Go for it, enjoy the meeting…and be sure they will appreciate it even more.” 

Oh me, oh my. Me thinks Wonderbra will find a great divide in the public’s reaction to this campaign. On the one hand you have to hand it to them that the idea itself is both original and quite frankly brilliant. We do, after all, live in a world where “Fifty Shades of Grey” is currently a best seller. I don’t think I need to say anymore. However, there are women the world over who will be in a bit of a state at what Wonderbra is implying with this new agenda. Basically Wonderbra are saying that sex sells, even in a boardroom. You can’t say they aren’t correct. The best one liner I heard this month was the following…. “Proof that men can concentrate on more than one thing at once: boobs.” You have to take this whole campaign with a grain of salt. I wouldn’t doubt there were actually some women behind its creation. Excuse me while I adjust my Wonderbra strap…now off to the boardroom, I’ll let you know how it goes.
