Apparently Derek Blasberg likes being called a blogger…

Yesterday WWD featured an article on the business of blogging and took quotes from some of the industry’s leading bloggers of the moment. I say “of the moment” because this list changes with every passing day. Today’s lead blogger is tomorrow’s zero page views…or however the saying would go. New hit blogs do seem to be jumping up and waving their fashion flags proudly each and every day. And the end result seems to be that blogging is now officially “cool”. How do we know this to be true? Well the young prince of fashion, Mr. Derek Blasberg has given a quote for this relevant WWD article that proves our point. Blasberg, who has started a blog under the Now Manifest umbrella, commented, “Five years ago, if someone called me a blogger I would have probably
scoffed and been offended. But things have changed and it’s a digital
world now. If someone calls me a blogger today? I’m flattered and I feel
relevant”.

Ok so maybe he didn’t directly say blogging was “cool” but you get the gist of it. The article also went into detail in discussing prices that blogs are being paid to work with brands these days. If you’re a fashion blogger, this is a must read. If you’re a PR or a retail director you might find this interesting as well. The game’s changing out there, folks. Blogging ain’t what it used to be. {WWD: To Pay or Not to Pay: A Closer Look at the Business of Blogging}
