So we already know that the Spring 2012 Costume Institute Exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art will focus on Schiaparelli and Prada. Please feel free to stand up and do a little jump for joy (that’s what happened here). Of course our imaginations are already running wild at what we will see on the red carpet at the Costume Gala on May 7th but we’re more excited about seeing what lies behind the museum doors for the show itself. The exhibition, titled Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, is on view from May 10 through August 19, 2012 and will aim to map out the similarities between the two designers over time. We will see the parallels that exist between the two, showing Schiaparelli at her height from the 1920s-1950s and Prada from the 1980s up until today. Two fashion legends, one massive fashion tour through time… perfection!
As per usual, a lovely coffee table book is being released to showcase the exhibition and it’s clearly a must for fashion collectors. The Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations catalogue is currently available to pre-order on Amazon.com for $29.70 (a nice mark down from the $45 retail price you’ll find at the show). Yes, it’s a must for all and we’re happy to see the cover is featuring one of our favourite prints from the Prada archives!
