Happy Thanksgiving…say it with vintage Christmas Commercials!

When I was little Thanksgiving was a day I knew was reserved for giving thanks. We were taught that this was a day not only about being with friends and family but also in taking time to think about how lucky we are in life, no matter what the circumstances. Today I feel very lucky indeed for so many reasons but I also write this post with a tinge of sadness as once again I find myself nearly 4,000 miles away from my entire family. My mom is roasting a turkey as we speak and I can only imagine my little brother is stealing marshmallows from the sweet potato casserole. My dad probably has the football on and if my two other brothers were there they would probably be trying to sort out a round of football outside on the front lawn. Thanksgiving has so many amazing memories for so many families. For me and my family, it’s the memories of 20 years of Thanksgivings together that are keeping me warm today. Wherever you may find yourself, dear reader, I hope you are surrounded by the ones you love. Please take a moment and be thankful for that and count your lucky stars that you get to reach out and hug your mom and dad in the flesh.

Now on to other matters…Thanksgiving is traditionally the start of Christmas in my family. It’s when the holiday music starts playing and all the decorations go up in the house. It’s the first day of the smell of sweet cinnamon, pine trees and warm fires. So I need something to really kick start my Christmas mood and I thought there might be one or two of you out there that could use some help as well. Therefore, I’ve put together some of the most classic Christmas commercials to warm your heart and awaken your holiday spirit! Enjoy! There’s one for each member of my family as a little Thanksgiving “thinking of you” to you all…

One for my mom…

One for my dad…

One for my oldest brother

One for my older brother

One for my little brother
