The Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize

I like to think of Fashion Foie Gras as a space where we not only celebrate established designers but also take a chance to recognize new talent in the industry. That’s why I’m pleased to share a wonderful project that has the same values in mind. The Dorchester Collection recently launched a new competition for discovering and supporting new talent in fashion. The Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize is a competition which awards the winner a $40,000 cash prize and a chance to show their collection the famed Hotel Plaza Athenee during Paris Fashion Week next year!

Both prizes are great incentives to participate in the competition, however the judging panel is a prize in itself! The panel is made up of the who’s who in fashion today including: fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia; author/editor Derek Blasberg; award-winning designer Thom Browne; Marchesa’s  Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig; women’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection Francisco Costa; fashion consultant Shala Monroque; Vanity Fair contributing editor Elizabeth Saltzman; and co-founder and creative director of Moda Operandi Lauren Santo Domingo. Each one of these individuals brings a wealth of knowledge to the table that is second to none and receiving advice from such seasoned individuals is priceless.

The five finalists for The Dorchester Fashion Prize 2011 have recently been announced and they include Anndra NeenGiulietta Julian LouieSetareh Mohtarez  and Siki Im.

Here’s a quick look at the judging and some of the finalists…

Best of luck to all five designers! The future is definitely looking bright…
