Givenchy Haute Couture Autumn 2011

Riccardo Tisci is quite simply one of the most talented designers on earth today and with each new Givenchy collection he shows we sit back and wax lyrical about his genius creations. It’s getting quite repetitive isn’t it, this always calling Tisci fantastic? Well, for now all we can say are wonderful things so get used to it! There will be no negative words here, only daydreams of strolling down Parisian streets with sheer fabrics billowing in the night air. Aw, the magic of Paris and the beauty of Givenchy Haute Couture.

Glancing quickly at this collection one could mistake it for a Spring Summer look book as the whites are so refreshing and light. It is heavenly and angelic in nature. However, upon closer inspection you find that Tisci has used so many different textures and layers to create these airy looks. Materials include:  Chantilly lace, feathers, silk tulle, raw cashmere, diaphanous organza contrast with pony skin, nappa leather, metal chains, cotton macrame lace, white beads and reflecting pearls. That’s quite a recipe for a stunning collection. But we must remember that this is Haute Couture and the sky’s the limit when it comes to creation!
