Celebrity Makeup Artist Emma Day introduces us to Omorovicza

People in the beauty industry are always on the hunt for new and exciting product lines that actually deliver. These products that are not that easy to come by. One of my greatest pleasures of old, when I used to assist various big makeup artists on the Pret a porter shows in Paris many moons ago, was taking a trip to a wonderful chemist in St Germain that stocked all those cult french brands such as Nuxe, Embryoillise, La roche posay and Bioderma. Certain things were and still are kit must haves for the shows. Unfortunately the euro killed the exchange rate and now these products cost about as much in the UK so all the fun has gone out of my french shopping adventures. However, there are still exciting gems to be found. My latest finds come courtesy of a new collaboration with a phenomenal beauty site – the joyous Cult beauty – www.cultbeauty.co.uk . I am an expert on their beauty panel and honoured to be a part of this beauty revolution. Cult Beauty stock all kinds of exciting and obscure brands which have been tried and tested out first hand on shoots by people like me. You can be guaranteed that if I am using an unusual brand on a celeb, they will eye-ball it and ask what I am using – it is often a brilliant ice-breaker.

One of the brands that has come to my attention of late is the wonderful Omorovicza line, brought to us from the thermal spas of Budapest. This brand was only launched in 2006 and has become a huge success in a short span of time with beauty editors and discerning beauty junkies alike. Created by a forward thinking couple, Margaret and Stephen de Heinrich Omorovicza, who visited the ancient spas in Budapest and were amazed by the massively high and beneficial healing properties in the spa waters. There are more thermal water spas in Budapest than any other city in the world and they are literally heaving with minerals and anti-oxidants, hence the inspiration for this gorgeous line was born.

To satisfy my curiosity about this brand and learn more about the individual benefits of the products I booked myself in for a mini-facial at the Omorovicza counter in the newly launched Liberty beauty halls.  Allowing them to remove all my makeup I  was cleansed, massaged, scrubbed and moisturised in full view of all Liberty shoppers in their central spot in the hall. Praying that no friends (or male admirers) would see me in my non made up state – I am the kind of girl who goes to the corner shop to get a pint of milk with a full face of slap – I relaxed and succumbed to the gentle touch of the Omorovicza expert who was specially trained in Budapest and talked me through the range as we progressed.  These products smell absolutely delicious, fragranced lightly with my two favourite scents of rose and orange blossom with the zingy undertones of fresh minerals. My skin was diagnosed as being oily so the appropriate products were used which, after my half hour mini-facial, left my skin as glowing and youthful as a teenager’s. My personal Omorovicza favourites? The balancing moisturiser, the best selling complexion brightener SPF20 (a wonderful invention that perks up dull skin no end under a foundation), the inky grey coloured Deep cleansing masque and Body buffing balm (perfect for making body skin baby soft and getting rid of pesky fake tan residue) and the skin toned Complexion enhancer are all taking pride of place in my bathroom as we speak. The full Ormorovicza facial can be experience at Harrods Urban retreat.

Omorovicza will soon be running a special with Liberty’s. From the 10th-16th of July full facials will be available at their beauty counter in the new Liberty Beauty department. The cost of the facial is £85  which is redeemable against product purchases. Please call 020 7573 9402 to make an appointment.
