The show notes read “bustling hedgerows, wild and wonderful woodlands and our favourite English wildlife transport our girl to a thoroughly rural idyll.” That’s a perfect description of what we saw at the show today. Giant mushrooms greeted us at the entrance to Claridge’s Ballroom in London. As we walked through the foyer we were each handed a card with a woodland animal drawn on the front. I received an owl. Presumably this had something to do with seating arrangements but there were so many people trying to fit into this row or that that unfortunately the card idea flew out the window. Cute touch, though. In the main hall, men dressed in equestrian jackets were serving fruit drinks and scrumptious cupcakes, designed to look like giant red and white mushrooms. Entering the main room we were greeted by a star studded wall as well as a “star-studded” front row. Guests included Olivia Palermo, Kirsten Dunst, Rebecca Hall, Rosamund Pike, Clemence Posey and many more (every single one dressed in Mulberry) – all scrunched in and looking quite cozy with one another.
As the show began, the Dj spun tunes that took you back to the simpler days of country bliss and memories of the “Fantastic Mr Fox”. Each model paraded looks that were country chic but mixed with an edge of “decadent glamour”. The art of layering at mulberry is just that, art! The Mulberry girl isn’t scared to throw a duffle over an evening gown or pair a big wooly scarf with a delicate dress. Every piece on its own would be a dream to own…but the way in which they were all styled together brings the collection alive and makes everything that much more magical.
Taking a closer look at accessories, Mulberry paid very close attention to detail. New postman’s locks act as closures on the bags and have fox face rivets in place of traditional Mulberry screws. The accessories this season are above and beyond luxe, as one would expect from the world’s leading accessories brand.
As for footwear, it was all a bit more practical this season. Afterall, we’re dealing with a woman that walks through muddy fields here! Wooden wedge heels and cute booties were seen throughout.
And lest we forget that Mulberry is an animal friendly brand, they sent a gorgeous little pup down the catwalk (which we hear started a bit of a dog fight in the second show). He was sporting the most adorable Tillie Quilted Dog Mac.
Leaving the show I got my pup fix as a massive pup was sitting in the main hallway very content with his tartan plaid scarf (see pic below). This made me ten minutes late for the next show! I couldn’t help but give the young stud a good cuddle.
