Blumarine Autumn Winter 2011, Milan Fashion Week

I don’t believe I was the only person thinking they were watching the wrong show nearly two dozen models walked out at Blumarine in neutral, calm and conservative pieces for Autumn Winter 2011. Had I somehow miscalculated and come into an MaxMara repeat? Or had Anna Molinari been replaced and I just wasn’t told? We’re used to seeing wild and crazy things at Blumarine. It’s usually the place where we all let our hair down and expect a bit of a thrill for the season. It’s a very commercial look this time around.  Hmmm…that always does make one wonder. What has caused this sudden change of heart? However, not all is lost in excitement and wonderment at Blumarine. The second half of the show we were all woken up with some bright colours – literally from head to toe. The models strutted down the catwalk in solid bright oranges, yellows, purples or blues from collar to boot.  There was a constant shift between colours, neutrals and a combination of the two. The show ebbed and flowed perfectly. A small note on the footwear:  while the coloured boots reminded me a bit too much of an Austin Powers movie, the black over-the-knee boots worn with the neutral coloured garments will become a staple for the season…I guarantee it!
