Elie Saab Spring 2011 Review from Paris Fashion Week

Easy Elegance – those are the words I will use to describe the Elie Saab Collection Spring 2011 from here until the day I die.  This collection blew my mind, so much so in fact that I have decided if I had to wear only one designer for events in 2011, Elie Saab would be my first and only choice.  I could sit here all day and write about how perfectly every seam was placed or how every line created was so feminine and airy that I felt as if I were watching gorgeous bewitching fairies walk down the catwalk rather than trained professional models.  Instead I’ll just say that this show was one of my favourite shows for Spring 2011.

Saab’s pieces are classic, timeless, elegant and will bow down to no trends.  Elie Saab stands alone as a designer that loves women, loves their curves and their femininity.  Yet he does not dress us in belittling ways.  He dresses us as heroes in our own worlds. With each creation he celebrates our very being. We are not punished in his creations for eating more than a lettuce leaf for lunch.  He is a forgiving designer who creates for an elite group of women but not for an elite body type.

Elie, if I were there now I would kiss you.  Thank you for this beautiful display of fashion.
