Belk, the southern retail giant, gets a brand new look

Hold on to your hats southern shoppers,  Belk has a brand new bag…and credit card, and store front.  The new, uber sleek logo is being rolled out across all Belk stores from next week! Don’t panic. It’s all on the up and up. The brand hasn’t had a face lift in more than 50 years and it’s time! The new blue and black logo, with the tag “Modern. Southern. Style.” is sure to attract a lot of attention over the coming weeks.

I have to be honest with you. I’ve loved Belk with or without a new logo. It’s my “go-to” destination in Charlotte, N.C. when it comes to buying a dress for any occasion at all. It was where I bought my first St. John Jacket, my first Donna Karan gown and my first pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans. Belk Southpark was the first store in Charlotte that really carried any big names. So even though their logo hasn’t changed in fifty years or so, they have certainly kept up with the trends.  I’m excited to see what this new look and feel will bring to the company.  So far there have been reports of new fixtures and setups in store that focus more consumer attention on denim and shoes as well as a new emphasis on costume jewelry. 

I’m back in North Carolina on the 15th of October so I’ll check it out for you then…and maybe also bring you a special report of what’s new on the shop floors. Sound like fun?
