Smack dab in the middle of Rockefeller Center you can expect to see the TV retail giants, QVC for the first time ever in a physical location. The little people on screen will become real life sized human beings. You’ll be able to touch items of clothing outside the comfort of your own home and you’ll even probably get the experience of having someone finally say “can I help you with anything, ma’am?”
This is a very clever marketing idea, QVC. Many people I know would never dream of shopping through their TV, especially friends in New York. There is quite a big stigma attached to shopping from your home on television. We’ve grown to love online shopping and that’s had two thumbs up from every diva that wants to forgo the physical requirements of shopping on the street. But TV shopping has always been thought of as belonging to a certain crowd of people.
QVC is aiming for the non-TV shoppers. They want you and me to walk into the store and go, “wait a minute, I’ve been missing out on all of this for how many years? This is a goldmine!” That could actually happen! Take their line up of programs taking place while they are on location. Isaac Mizrahi, Rachel Zoe and Lori Goldstein are all coming in to host segments during the week of September 10th (shop is open from 10-15 September). On Fasihon Night Out QVC will introduce the new K-Dash by Kardashians line and the new line from Madmen’s costume designer – Janie Bryant Mod.
If you’re in NYC make sure and pop down to this pop-up shop! I think it will be worth the journey! And who knows, you may become a TV shopper afterall!
