Here come the girls…Evans reveal their latest campaign with supermodels shining!

Who will ever forget the beautiful cover of Vogue shot by Peter Lindbergh in 1990, which featured the gorgeous faces of that decade’s most celebrated supermodels. I have had that Lindbergh picture in a frame on my wall since college…since my body stretched to over six feet and the only place I could ever picture myself was on a catwalk. I wanted to share the office space that had once belonged to Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelists and Christy Turlington. Only I was still in grade school when this picture was taken and when it was time for my turn on the catwalk it was a completely different place.  The women had morphed into stick insects and my body was starting to curve out rather than in. To make a long story short, I pocketed the modelling dream and moved on to other pursuits.

However, it gives me great pleasure to announce that the pendulum is swinging.  Curves,  in the past twelve months, have been embraced in headlines like never before. Crystal Renn, in particular, has led a campaign for “regular” sized women that has made every editor, stylist and designer sit up and take notice.  The focus with modelling is beginning to swing back in the direction of great femininity and beauty. No image makes this message more clear than that taken for the new Evans Autumn/Winter 2010/11 Campaign, which features five of the biggest names in Plus Size Fashion: Crystal Renn, Peeky, Andrea (12+UK) , Toccara Jones (Of America’s Next Top Model) and Tara Lynn (FORD Models).

Take a minute to look at this picture and tell me the one and only difference between the old magazine cover of Vogue and the present photo for Evans?  It’s size. It’s all about size.  Every single one of these women take your breath away when you see them in person. They are absolutely stunning.  They just wear a sixteen, rather than a six!

Commenting on the shoot, Gary Dakin Vice President of Ford Models in the US said: “I am thrilled to be part of this amazing shoot.  These supermodels of the ‘plus’ industry are making you forget their size.  It is women like these that are going to knock down the final barriers, showing that they are some of the best at what they do by modelling for some of the key opinion formers and brands within the fashion world.”

Evans‘ ‘big mission’ is to break down perceptions and showcase fashion in a way that is wearable, on trend and most importantly, provides the perfect fit. The photo above displays that mission triumphantly. Their mission is clear and well defined in the new Autumn/Winter line more so than ever. I had a chance to view the look book and here are some pieces every woman over size 14 is going to want in her closet come September!
