Is it just me or is it strange for a store to launch a maternity line when their average customer is a teenager? Forever 21 doesn’t seem to think so as they’ve just launched a line for the young mummies of the world.
Forever 21 has been tooted as a deeply religious outfit after consumers discovered that the words John 3:16 were written on the bottom of every yellow Forever 21 shopping bag. For those of you that are not familiar with John 3:16 it reads:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Now correct me if I am wrong but as a store that promotes such strong Christian values you would think they would want to stay away from any sort of line that would promote pre-marital sex or young single mothers. I’m not saying I am against these things…I just believe that when a store sends a message they should stand by that message from top to bottom. I can’t get out of my head the girls I see shopping in Forever 21. So few are over 21, which to me means that a maternity line would be catering to a teenage marketplace!
However, if I were to step away from the obvious problems here and just look at the fashion I would say the following. I would definitely buy from the line as the clothes are good. Which of course makes me question everything I have just written as I am not 21 and would wear these clothes while pregnant. Oh, Forever 21….you have left me totally thrown here…I want to find fault with it but the fault can’t be found in the fashion. So my congratulations. Just put a warning label on the new bags….being a teenager mother is no cupcake…think before you sink.
