This evening I attended the launch party for the Perlee Colletion at Van Cleef and Arpels. It was quite a jovial party with lovely fashionistas in attendance, bubbly flowing and diamonds sparkling all around us. It was an evening of pure luxury and indulgence….
A little background on the new Collection:
If you are at all familiar with the brand you will know that Van Cleef and Arpels is renowned for its luxurious jewelry. If I know anything about my readers I would guess that what you think of most when you think of Van Cleef and Arpels is the four leaf clover designs (otherwise known as the Alhambra Collection.) We’ve seen these around the necks and wrists of every celebrity going. It’s a staple of fashion in the 21st century. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing a real Alhambra necklace in person you would notice that the precious hard stones featured in the necklace are encircled with borders of gold beads. Van Cleef and Arpels first brought this technique forward in the 1920s to enhance the radiance of the gems. Now they have decided to launch a whole line to pay homage to the beading framework. And what a line it is! Here’s a snapshot of the collection from their press books:
The pictures do not do the pieces justice! The line is young and vibrant and will perhaps drive a younger market into the Van Cleef and Arpels store in the future. The designs are simple and refined yet speak volumes about the distinguished taste of those who will be seen in these pieces. I was particularly fond of the heritage bracelets and rings which have “Van Cleef and Arpels” in a gorgeous script engraved on the smooth surface. The real love of the night, however, was this gorgeous diamond bracelet (which I snapped a pic of below)…
Thank you to Van Cleef and Arpels London for letting me pay you a visit! It was well worth the time out to play with some fantastic jewels. And as a side note….about 50% of those lovely jewels you have seen in Cannes have come from this shop! The celebs can’t get enough of Van Cleef and Arpels and who can blame them really?
