It’s no secret that bloggers receive a lot of great freebies. We get products all the time from companies hoping to receive press about their latest and greatest. We have a strict code here that we will never write about something we wouldn’t swear by ourselves. There are many days when we sit and write to PR companies and explain that we are not writing about their products because we would have nothing nice to say. Our mothers brought us up the right way in teaching us, “if you can’t say anything nice, say nothing at all.” So we take the time to explain to various PRs why their products are not going to work, what can be improved to make them work and encourage them to contact us again when a new version is launched. We aren’t always right but we are always honest. So it is rare that we actually seek out a product. However, this time we couldn’t ignore a trend that has already swept America and is now taking over in Europe….the Strivectin (UK link) beauty bliss!
Let me start with a bit of background here. I’ve had a miserable skin month. My poor boyfriend has had to hear me complain day after day about random breakouts, flaky skin and miserable dark circles under my eyes. Now this is mostly due to too many parties with alcohol that sucks my skin dry; too much blogging until the wee hours of the night in front of computer screen which isn’t exactly giving me my Vitamin D (ummm why haven’t they invented that yet?); and stressing out about various work problems. Stress, lack of sleep and alcohol are just about the worst possible combination for skin. All I need to do now is take up smoking and I’ll be sure to age myself ten years in the next twelve months.
Well my boyfriend isn’t the only one that has to hear about my daily skin stresses. Everyone in the office has to hear my moan and even a few of my old American University friends get to hear my troubles. Well the other day finally someone offered up a possible solution. Since I’ve been in the UK now for over eight years I tend to follow the trends here more so than in America. Well it turns out that in doing so I’ve missed a great product launch. And this is where this blog post begins. My best girlie in NYC finally told me to shut up and find a way to get my hands on some StriVectin. Immediatly I explained that I couldn’t just run out to a dermatologist here in the UK at the moment…I needed an over the counter remedy. I just assumed with a name like StriVectin that this product would be a prescription right? I was way off with that one. It’s actually a product that will throw you completely. Everything about the look, feel and smell of the products will make you think you had to visit a high flying dermatologist in order to get these beauties into your medicine cabinet. In the US you can buy them nearly everywhere. In the UK the products are being offered by only a few retailers currently: Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Space NK and Salon Skincare.
This weekend I experimented with the SD Eye Cream and the StriVectin Instant Facial Sculpting Cream. Ladies…I have not been paid to say this…and I am not exagerating in any way here…I am in love with this stuff. Forget Oil of Olay and Creme de la Mer – who both now claim to be better than the other. I have a feeling neither of these guys will try and come up against StriVectin. On Friday my face was a mess – peeling, red and blotchy. Today (Monday morning) I woke up with skin that is so fresh, clean and glowing that I actually did a double take in the mirror! As they say, “the proof is in the pudding”…and this was enough proof for me. I ALWAYS break out when I start using new creams. I swear I have the most sensitive skin on the planet earth. But this stuff made me feel amazing. My skin is visibly firmer and is smoother than it has ever been. It was damn near embarassing on the tube this morning as I couldn’t stop rubbing the palm of my hand over my own cheek. AND…..my dark circles are gone. I am horrible with beauty PR as I never really read all the mumbo jumbo that comes along with the products. I try them and if they work I sing their praises. But I know there are some of you that like to read the little words on the beautiful packaging (and although the packaging for StriVectin is very clinical it works so well for a product that doesn’t need pretty flowers or pastel colours to sell).
So here are a few words, straight from the website, about the products I suggest you purchase today in bulk:
