A day in the garden with Dior

We’ve always been huge fans of Christian Dior beauty and for good reason as Dior provides us with products that are virtually unmatched in the marketplace. Their fragrances are unparalleled and we are convinced they truly are the first brand to bottle the true essence of the garden in a bottle. This is perhaps because Monsieur Dior found his inspiration from within, from memories of his beautiful childhood gardens in Granville. The Miss Dior Eau de Parfum has been a staple in our office for over a year now and we honestly didn’t think a replacement for the light, crisp and fresh scent would ever be uncovered. Well, a girl needs to admit when she’s wrong…and today….well, we stand corrected.

We were given a chance to smell the newest scent from Dior, Miss Dior Cherie. We should have known there would be trouble when we saw the house of roses that Dior was debuting the fragrance within. However, nothing could have prepared us for this! The new scent is, and we are not kidding here, like taking a walk through a rose garden. Francois Demachy, Perfumer for Dior, said it best, “I composed a fragrance that smells like Spring.”  Yes you did, Francois, yes you did! With hints of Blood Orange, Neroli, Turkish Rose, Gardenia, Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang, this is a scent that Fashion Foie Gras is willing to stake its reputation on. Try it, you will like it! Unless, of course, you are the one woman in the world that doesn’t enjoy sweet floral scents…

As a side note, we also had a chance to see the advertising for the scent and there are some incredible talents behind the ads. Sofia Coppola directs the commercial and Tim Walker was the photographer behind the gorgeous print advertisements. We’ll put them up as soon as they are out! You won’t be disappointed.

Not only were the products that Dior launched amazing, the launch location and setup itself was phenomenal. Dior took over a lovely townhouse and covered two floors with endless flower arrangements and gorgeous clean and crisp pieces of white furniture. The Dior experts worked their magic, making us all fall in love with each and every product that they introduced for the season ahead.

Here’s a quick summary of some of the products that we would recommend for purchase:

1. Miss Dior Cherie Parfum (as mentioned above).

Available from 2nd April 2010.

2. Dior Addict Ultra Gloss lip Gloss, Glow.

We loved the Lace Beige and Negligee Pink colours. Instead of covering your lips completely their nude colour, with a hint of sparkle, give your lips that extra something special without going over the top.

Available from 24th May 2010.

3. Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Skin Energizer.

This is the first skincare of its kind to try and protect the gorgeous skin you already have and prevent the first signs of aging. As we are turning 30 this year…this is our preferred skincare product. And here’s some more great news…you can buy it from 22nd March 2010! We could go into all the scientifiic mumbo jumbo here but instead we will say this…the creams smell amazing, feel amazing and don’t cause you to break out or react in that horrible way that so many other creams tend to do these days. Give it a shot, you won’t regret it.

4. Dior Bronze After Sun Monoi Balm.

Simply said, this is a MUST HAVE for summer. If you plan on spending any time in the sun at all this year you will want to have this heavenly scented balm. It soothes, rehydrates and beautifies sunkissed skin and frankly will make us feel a little less horrific for exposing our skin to all those UV rays throughout the day in pursuit of a glorious tan.

Thank you Dior, for an absolutely delightful afternoon and a wonderful introduction to your new products.

PS – Some of you may wonder who that gorgeous blonde in the pictures is? It’s none other than Miss Emma Day, the talented makeup artist we mentioned earlier who has been seen every where behind the scenes lately….you may remember our little write up on her with Nicole Richie
