For over 25 years Betty Jackson has been a major part of London fashion. Her designs have no age limit and every year she gives us new trends that are easy to wear and fit perfectly with the time period. This year’s display was no exception. Our favourite element of the new season? Her heavy knit sweaters with silky swinging skirts. And I can’t wait to get a closer look at the dress with sweater sleeves…was this a sweater underneath or just sweater sleeves attached to the dress? If it is the latter we would like to order one now, please! There were pleats everywhere this season, including the Wide wale Corduroy trousers, which we weren’t terribly fond of. It’s the whole Velvet phobia, I tell you! Corduroy is really just a ridged form of velvet, isn’t it? Putting the phobia aside, we also love the asymmetrical sleeved dress, the flat shoes and the cinched waists.
We haven’t had a chance to speak with the gorgeous Betty Jackson but if we do get to in the next couple of weeks we’d love to ask her if her line was influenced by the idea of the 1950’s working woman? Was she thinking of the recession and a throw back to the way that “Rosie the Riveter” used to dress? We say so many looks that took us back to this time period in fashion.
We always love Betty’s fashion invites. We have two framed in the office….Thanks for a fabulous show BJ!
