New York Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 Day 1: Chado Ralph Rucci

When the first model came onto the catwalk I was so pleased to see some colour in what has been a somber coloured start to the week. However, as the looks were shown one by one the blacks, nudes and rich browns once again presented themselves. I’ve been reading a lot of complaints online about the recession taking effect on the catwalk shows this season. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that! Women are flattered most by the colours we are seeing so how can any of us complain? CRR presented us with a number of separates this season. Layering is everywhere in Bryant Park! the skirt and sweater combination is back in full effect and Chado Ralph Rucci has perfected the art of the combo.  His lattice and tulle detailing was perfectly placed to accent the deep colours and rich fabrics on the garments. His evening gowns were minimalistic and clean and there were definitely a few contenders for Academy Awards dresses in the mix. Overall a wonderful result for Autumn/Winter 2010.
