Breakfast isn’t just the most important meal of the day, it’s also the best, in my opinion. When else can you eat dessert as a main course? Because, let’s be honest, pancakes are most definitely a dessert. And here’s the thing – if there are pancakes on the menu, I can’t not order them. In fact, I sort of judge any establishment by the quality of their cakes, which leads me to the subject at hand today.
Last week I had the great privilege of tucking into some pancakes at Wolfgang Puck’s Cut in 45 Park Lane, London. I was dining with a few super ladies and there was definitely a wide variety of plates around the table. We saw everything from picturesque avocados to finely cut salmon. And then there were the pancakes. Yes, I keep coming back to those because they were amazing. Imagine buttermilk pancakes, whipped butter with a maple flavoring, maple syrup and a load of fresh berries. Oh, and I mustn’t forget the side of streaky bacon. Honestly, it’s America come to London…
In short, I left the table wishing I hadn’t worn tight leather trousers. I’m pretty sure the seams will never fully recover, but it was worth every mouthful.
