Anyone else starting to feel like slowly but surely there's no reason to travel to the USA just to shop anymore? With the announcement this morning that American Eagle Outfitters is set to open in London, all we need now is a Target and the American shopping experience will be completely available on our doorsteps in the Big Smoke.
Here's the long and short of it, for those interested in learning more. American Eagle will open three outlets in London this fall. As they seem to be most comfortable in mall atmospheres, it's no surprise that they've chosen the two Westfields of London, as well as Bluewater, to open their first outlets. Of course this is all rather surprising news after hearing that American Eagle would be closing over 100 American Eagle stores on US shores over the next three years. Perhaps they are taking note from the Abercrombie & Fitch model of business. The A&F stores in London are like destination spots for tourists from Europe, with continuous queues to purchase and take a picture with the shirtless hunks at the door.
Come fall, we'll be checking out the London American Eagle Outfitter stores to give you the full scoop. Watch this space.
