The No-Makeup Selfie – have you shared yours?

Depending on where you live on this earth, you may not have heard of a trend that has taken over social in the United Kingdom. Over the past couple of weeks, women have taken to social media and shared what has now been coined the “No-Makeup Selfie.”  Why are women abandoning their sacred chemical helpers and picking up their mobile phones to record their bare skin? Well, it’s all in the name of cancer. Women in the UK are fighting back. They’re building awareness and raising money for Cancer Research UK.

So how can you help? Well, you can start by picking up your camera and turning the lens around on yourself. Snap a picture of your naked face and share it with the world. You don’t have to be in the UK to help this campaign. Anywhere in the globe and on any social network, snap a pic and use the hashtags #nomakeupselfie and #beatcancersooner. If you are in the UK, following the share of your picture, use your texting fingers to donate £3 to the cause by texting BEAT to 70009. Every little bit helps.

The new trend that is happening, and why I’m now sharing, is the idea of challenging your girlfriends to do the same. Yesterday on Facebook my good friend over at Cult Beauty told me to get my booty involved. So here I am. And my challenge to all of you, yes all of you, is to do the same!

Share your no-makeup selfies and let’s all help to fund a worthwhile cause. I’ll be seeing you soon, hopefully with no makeup and brave faces.
