While we're used to heading over to Goop for things like excellent recommendations for foreign pharmacy buys and fabulous life advice, we had quite the shock yesterday while checking in. Gwyneth Paltrow had taken to the Goop blog to announce her separation from her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
Posted with a beautiful picture of the couple, the message was titled "Conscious Uncoupling." Paltrow spoke of how the couple had tried their best spending time both together and apart to make it through this difficult time. We are saddened to hear that after much time spent trying to work things through, the two have decided it's best to go their separate ways. RIP Gwyneth and Chris.
So why mention any of this? Well, I know we're not a real "celebrity site" and this is definitely celeb news. What we do love to write about, however, is the changing world of social media and how it's impacting our very existence. This, folks, plays a part in the changing world of social. Paltrow took to her blog to break the news. She took control of the situation and managed the conversation in her own space. In previous celebrity breakups, we're used to dealing with exclusives, press releases, crisis management firms, etc.
This is the world we live in. It's a social situation, people.
