American Vogue takes inspiration from Sir Frederic Leighton’s Flaming June Painting for December 2013 cover

Looks like someone at American Vogue is taking inspiration from the great Pre-Raphealites. One look at the December 2013 cover of Jessica Chastain (wearing Theory) and one can’t help but draw comparisons between this image and that of the Sir Frederic Leighton’s Flaming June painting from 1895.  The resemblance is uncanny.

Shot by Annie Leibovitz, we have it on good authority that the accompanying editorial, featuring Jessica Chastain, is just as striking and all the images take inspiration from famous paintings over time. Cannot wait to see this! Bring on the big delivery of the latest issue.
