Jason Wu named as BOSS womenswear Artistic Director

Jason Wu will take on a new role from June 15th, 2013, as the new Artistic Director for BOSS womenswear. The 30-year old designer, who is probably best known for dressing Michelle Obama for both Presidential Inauguration balls, will “assume responsibility and creative direction for all product and image related aspects of the principal womenswear Ready-to-Wear and Accessory line in the HUGO BOSS group.”

Not to worry though, Wu fans! Jason Wu will continue to develop his own Ready-to-Wear and Accessory lines. Trust us, that was the first question we had!

Now, when can we expect to see the first Jason Wu for BOSS looks? The first collections will appear in Pre-Fall 2014 and the first runway collection under the new direction will debut at New York Fashion Week in February 2014.

When asked about the new role, Jason Wu said, “I have long been a fan of HUGO BOSS’ vast tradition and lineage in extraordinary tailoring. With the state-of-the-art facilities that are unique to the HUGO BOSS design labs, I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand’s authority in menswear.”

Watch this space as this will surely be a main event come February Fashion Week!
