Top tips and suggestions for common skincare issues

posted on: Wednesday, 14 November 2012

Over the past few months I’ve had a lot of discussions with friends, family and readers about skincare. Whether people have asked me what I’m doing or what I’d recommend for certain skin problems, I’ve kept a list in my mind so I could consult the experts and get back to you when the time came. So it’s time. Simple Skincare experts have kindly provided me with top tips and suggestions for common skincare issues. So without further ado, here are your top three questions answered. Do hope it helps. It certainly has changed the way that I look at skincare:

My Skin is dull. What can I do to breathe life back into it?
While it's true our skin loses elasticity as we age, with proper moisturizing we can restore some of its sheen. The best solution for dull skin is a moisturizer rich in vitamins and emollients. Simple® Replenishing Rich Moisturizer works wonders to help skin look its radiant best. Its unique combination of Pro-Vitamin B5, Glycerin, Allantoin and Bisabolol infuses moisture and adds luster to the appearance of skin.

Don't Rush the Regimen - Dullness is a sign that skin needs moisture so never let a 12-hour period go by without using a moisturizing treatment or product on your skin. You'll stop dullness in its tracks and jump-start a new beautiful habit of adding more "me time" minutes to your hectic day.

My skin is easily irritated. What can I do to prevent further irritation? (Hey, I feel your pain)

Allergens are all around us and can contribute to our skin becoming aggravated. With so many external forces "attacking" our skin, it is important that our skincare products contain only the necessary ingredients that skin needs and none of the bad - no dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh irritants. Simple® Vital Vitamin Night Cream soothes irritated skin.  With Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E, it helps restore and replenish the skin’s moisture balance overnight so the skin is better protected against irritants the next day.

Sensitive Skin Cares What You Wear - That favorite hat may feel cozy, but it could be irritating your skin. Wool or synthetic fibers can cause inflammation. Treat yourself to a new hat made with natural fibers, such as silk or cotton. It will keep you warm and toasty and won't irritate your skin. (Source)

My skin really dries out in the winter. What can I do to prevent/solve this problem?

Many winter skin woes can be corrected with the right cleanser and moisturizer.  Simple® facial skincare products contain no dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh irritants that can upset skin. All of the cleansers are 100% soap-free so they don't strip oils from the skin. The Moisturizing Facial Wash cleans and nourishes and contains Bisabolol, which is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant. It's equally important to select a moisturizer best suited to relieve dry skin. A product with glycerin, such as  Simple® Replenishing Rich Moisturizer, helps draw water to the skin and keep it there.

Step Away from the Fire - There's nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of a roaring fireplace in winter. Yet, heat is highly drying to the skin. If skin is noticeably dry and uncomfortable, moisturizing more frequently throughout the day can help. Consistent use of moisturizer will help prevent dry skin from returning.  (Source)

Going With The Grain - A diet rich in whole grains plays an important role in lowering the risk of chronic diseases and also contributes to body weight management and gastrointestinal health. Reducing these risks has a positive effect on our mood and outward appearance. (Source)

Hope this helps, ladies and gents! I know that skin is a tricky issue.
