Spring Summer 2013 Trend Report: Stripes, everywhere you look!

Spring Summer 2013 Trend Report: Stripes

When I’m asked which trend will define spring summer 2013, my answer will be stripes. It seems that after looking at over 100 catwalks over the past four weeks, the one thing that kept repeating itself was the stripe. No two stripes were the same. We had elegant nautical stripes turned into full on gowns at Oscar de la Renta. Tommy Hilfiger felt his stripes were best worn head to toe in double breasted suits and behind. Then Marc Jacobs dedicated nearly a whole show to the sacred stripe. There were stripes that went horizontally, stripes that went vertically, stripes that were made in metallics and stripes that were both thick and thing.

I feel like I’m starting to sound like a Dr. Seuss book here. You get my point, though. Stripes are huge for Spring Summer 2013 and pretty much any way you can think of to wear them, you’ll find yourself right on trend. From ballroom to living room, adopt a stripe next season and make it your own. Looking for other ways that stripes were used this season? Check out the shows from Derek Lam, Acne, Belstaff, Etro, Holly Fulton, Haider Ackermann, J Crew, Issey Miyake, Markus Lupfer, Michael Kors, PPQ, Jonathan Saunders and Rachel Zoe.
