Disgusting wedding diets: Feeding Tubes

posted on: Saturday, 14 April 2012

The New York Times ran an article yesterday on wedding diets that ran shivers up our spines. Just when you think bridezillas can't get any worse or that dieting can't get any more extreme, we read this quote:

"In March, Jessica Schnaider, 41, of Surfside, Fla., was preparing to shop for a wedding gown by spending eight days on a feeding tube. The diet, under a doctor’s supervision, offered 800 calories a day while she went about her business, with a tube in her nose."

Someone please explain to me how running around for a whole week with a tube in your nose is worth the weight loss? That I will never ever understand.  Surely it's better and easier to just hire a trainer...and probably less expensive. But no, walking around town looking like you have a serious medical issue, not to mention the extreme discomfort of walking around with a tube shoved down your nose, is preferable!

That example is probably the most extreme cited but what was mentioned thereafter was nearly as shocking with the lengths women will go to in order to look good on the big day.

I'll leave the rest of the shock for you to discover... {Bridal Hunger Games, New York Times}

  1. What the hell!! Just buy a dress that fits! and eat whatever the hell you like, obviously her fiance loves her as she is.

    She's going to look back at the pictures and be like 'oh I was so skinny then I'm not like that now' whats the point..

    Also, what sort of doctor is this? She clearly has the kind of money that buys medical opinion now-a-days.

  2. Just goes to show why obesity is a growing issue people are just plain lazy! In a society that now offers instant results, people no longer want to work for what the want. The fact that a doctor actually went through with this woman's request is sickening! His license should be revoked!
