Golden Globes 2012 Best Dressed and what they wore…

The Golden Globes 2012 showcased a wide variety of designers on the red carpet this year. From Gucci to Versace, fishtail to ball gown skirt and bright yellow to pale beige, no two looks were the same. There were truly no great fashion disasters. True, some could have made a greater effort and made time to find a better fitting frock but in the end the whole carpet was alive with praise for some of the world’s most beautiful women dressed by the great talents in design.

So now down to who was “best dressed” for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Hands down, Charlize Theron wins for her Christian Dior gown and 1920s “flapper girl” inspired hair and makeup. She was beautiful from head to toe, as one could tell each detail was accounted for, from the right headband to the perfect heel.

Next up we have Salma Hayek and Evan Rachel Wood, both dressed in Gucci for the evening. Their dresses were impossibly intricate yet looked so effortlessly chic. These garments truly look as if they were custom made for each actress. Trust me when I say there were jealous eyes darting out at these two gorgeous creatures all night.

Then we move on to Heidi Klum. I’ve never been a huge fan of Klum’s red carpet style but this year I bow down to the queen of the catwalk. Klum wore Calvin Klein for the Globes. There was no dress anywhere in sight as simple as this one. There was also no one who pulled off simple and elegant in this manner. Calvin Klein is known for creating simple pieces but this dress takes things to a new level. It is accessorized perfectly with a turquoise necklace, natural makeup and healthy straight hair. Does it get an easier or more chic?

Now we move on to the biggest trend on the red carpet – the fishtail gown. No less than a dozen women wore dresses with fishtails this year and we’re talking extreme fishtails here…the level of women having to be carried up and down stairs a la Beyonce! Our favourite fishtails: Reese Witherspoon and Elle Macphersonn in Zac Posen, Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli, Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang and Katherine McPhee in Donna Karan.

And we conclude our best dressed list this year with Dianna Argon who wore the most detailed gown on the red carpet, a dress designed by our very own Giles! And of course no round up you’ll read will be without the lovely Emma Stone who wore a gorgeous Lanvin gown that made her look both elegant and dramatic…a perfect combination for the young starlet.

Other honourable mentions include Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie in Versace, Kristen Wiig in Bill Blass, Julianna  Margulies in Naeem Khan, Jessica Chastain in Givenchy Couture, Shailene Woodley in Marchesa.

Next up… The Academy Awards!!!
