MaxMara Autumn Winter 2011, Milan Fashion Week

Well this is a first for Autumn Winter 2011….a mainstream designer with not even a smidgen of colour to be seen on the catwalk! Well I’ll be damned. I do love a label that stands out from the pack. MaxMara, however doesn’t have to try too hard to stand apart from anyone. This is THE classic design house for Italy. Mostly known for their classic pieces, MaxMara stayed true to their heritage and presented a line that was as classic as classic comes. Each model was styled conservatively with no great flesh on show, besides a knee here and there or bare shoulders paired with a fur snood.  This was a lady’s catwalk shown here today but a collection of clothing that will be bought be women aged 25-65 without question.

Note: The highlight for many occurred before the show even began when Katie Holmes turned up with her front row seat assignment in hand and a gorgeous MaxMara classic camel coat adorning her shoulders. Twitter was alive with speculations on who was causing such a raucous with the flashbulbs. It was indeed, America’s sweetheart herself (and it is rumoured that she will be receiving the 2011 Women In Film Max Mara “Face of the Future®”Award this year).
