Christie’s Auction House and Net-a-Porter spearhead environmental change

Something to add to your calendars for this Spring. On March 29th, Christie’s will be holding a special fundraising runway presentation as party of their “Bid to Save the Earth” event.  Titled Runway to Green, the initiative will feature 24 international designers including Michael Kors, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Tommy Hilfiger, Manolo Blahnik and many more.

Each designer has been asked to create a piece specifically for the show.  The clothes will debut on the Christie’s catwalk but will be sold alongside their Autumn Winter Collections for 2011 in stores and online with the official online retailer for the launch, Net-a-Porter. A portion of every sale will then go towards environmental charities earmarked by the organizers. But for those that simply can’t wait for the fall collections to arrive in stores, Net-a-Porter will be selling every item from the Runway to Green Collection online right after the show! That’s month’s before stores will receive stock!

The show itself will be a fantastic event. The line up of creative talent is out of this world. Tiffany & Co. is underwriting the show. Tonne Goodman, Vogue‘s Fashion Director and Tabitha Simmons, a contributing editor at Vogue, will be styling the show. David and Susan Rockefeller are the hosts for the evening, alongside a few other famous names you may recognize including Francois-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek.

See you there!
